Marcel C. Nwalozie is currently, the Diretor of NEPAD West Africa Mission. He was the Director of Programs for CORAF/WECARD for 12 years; served two years as an internationally recruited senior scientist at the Regional Center for Adaptation of Crops to Drought (CERAAS), Thies, Senegal; and a senior lecturer at Imo State University, Nigeria for 12 years. He earned a PhD from Port Harcourt and an MBA from Liverpool. He has devoted his career to improving rural livelihoods through field crops research, and international research management. He has contributed to scientific knowledge on crop improvement; is an astute manager of international agricultural research for development. His career goal and vision has been focused on enhancing the livelihoods of rural communities through agricultural development. He has indepth knowledge of the challenges facing developing countries, especially as it relates to research, policy and economy.
Marcel Nwalozie has broad national, regional and international development background on the physiology of crops adaptation to drought; human capital development; inter-states, sub-regional, regional and international research co-operation management; regional priority setting; and regional strategic planning, and marketing of programs to investors. He is experienced in resource management, and in soliciting holistic approaches in problem solving, especially with respect to resource-poor groups. He believes in paying special attention to disadvantage groups, including women and countries emerging from conflicts.
