Commissioning of the agro-waste treatment and value addition facility at the Banana Investment Limited, in Arusha, Tanzania.

On Wednesday 29th April 2015, the Bioinnovate Africa program and its partners will be commissioning of the agro-waste treatment and value addition facility at the Banana Investment Limited, a winemaking factory in Arusha, Tanzania. This is a full-scale wastewater treatment facility that has been developed in partnership with the Nelson Mandela African University of Science and Technology and Banana Investment Ltd and funded by Bio-Innovate Africa. Through this support the factory established a wastewater treatment system to generate bio-energy for use by the factory, organic fertilizer and treated water that is reused by the nearby community for irrigation. This ceremony will be presided over by the Minister of Communication Science and Technology of Tanzania. The project is a culmination of over five years of research and innovation activities.
