About Global Bioeconomy Summit (GBS)
The GBS is a forum that fosters dialogue between widely different actors to promote
sharing of best practices and to identify opportunities for global innovation and
collaboration. The GBS series was started in 2015 and it is devised to be a global
and inclusive summit. It brings together bioeconomy experts from all hemispheres
and from diverse backgrounds to represent the interdisciplinary and diverse features
of the bioeconomy. The overall aims of the GBSs are to:
- provide a platform to discuss global bioeconomy issues in an inclusive
manner
- foster communication and understanding of global bioeconomy
- integrate bioeconomy issues in global discussions on innovation, climate,
biodiversity and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- provide guidelines and recommendations for the way forward
The planning of the GBS is supported by the International Advisory Council on
Global Bioeconomy (IACGB), an independent think tank with the mission to promote
the Global Bioeconomy as a sustainable and future looking movement for the benefit
of planet and people.
