BioInnovate Africa Programme



BioInnovate Africa (https://bioinnovate-africa.org/) is a regional innovation-driven bioeconomy initiative in eastern Africa, supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). BioInnovate Africa enables scientists and innovators in eastern Africa universities, research institutes and firms to translate innovative biological-based research ideas and technologies into practical uses for the benefit of society. BioInnovate Africa is based at and managed by the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) in Nairobi, Kenya, and currently operates in six Eastern Africa countries namely: Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda, and also collaborates with partners in South Sudan.





Kelah Kathure Kaimenyi



Kelah Kathure Kaimenyi is Communications Officer for the BioInnovate Africa
Programme. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the United
States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa), with a major in Print
journalism and a minor in Broadcast journalism. With over seven years
experience in publishing and development communications, Kelah is expected
to create and implement effective editorial and communications strategies for
the Programme, including online and offline content management, publication
design, media relations, and branding oversight.

Before joining BioInnovate in November 2017, Kelah was Communications Assistant
at the Kenya Community Development Foundation – KCDF (2010-2011),
Communications Specialist at CHIESA Project/ ICIPE (2012-2014), and recently,
Communications Officer at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center –
CIMMYT (2015-2017).
