Dr Samira Mohamed

Dr Mohamed is the team leader of BioInnovate Africa supported project on Post-harvest disinfestation of horticultural crops using hot water treatment method. She is an agricultural entomologist and biological control specialist at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe). Her research areas include integrated pest management for insects of horticultural crops with particular interest in classical biological control.

She has worked at the Agricultural Research Cooperation (ARC), Sudan, on insect pests on cool season food legumes (faba bean, chickpea, and lentil) and wheat. She has authored and co-authored several peer reviewed publications.

She holds a Ph.D in Agricultural Entomology from Gezira University, Sudan, under the African Regional Post graduate Programme in Insect Science (ARPPIS) at icipe; and a Master of Science degree from the Wageningen University, the Netherlands.
