Consumption of edible insects as an alternative animal protein source is a potential long- term solution to curb protein deficiency. We should do more to conserve the natural habitats of these insects and find new ways of producing them safely and in a sustainable way. Globally, the potential of insect farming to upscale production is relatively underexploited. At BioInnovate Africa, we support a project on insect-based agribusiness for sustainable food production in Kenya and Uganda.
