Prof Tatien Masharabu

Prof Masharabu is the team leader of BioInnovate Africa supported project on Catnip products for malaria prevention. He is a lecturer at the University of Burundi, faculty of sciences, biology department, and the Director of Research and Innovation.

He has in the past held various positions including Director General for Science, Technology and Research within the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Burundi, and a member of the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) Audit Committee. He has experience from countries across Africa, Europe, and Asia in the framework of projects, international workshops and conferences dedicated to different topics related to research and development, and STI.

Prof Masharabu is a member of the National (Burundi) Commission of Science Technology and Innovation (STI). He holds a Ph.D in Science, and a Master of Science in Life Sciences, both from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium; a Master of Science in Applied Biology from University of Burundi; and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from University of Burundi. He has authored and co-authored several scientific papers in peer reviews as well as in conference proceedings in the fields of Botany, Landscape Ecology, Climate change and Biodiversity conservation, Land and Natural Resources Administration, and STI outlook.
