Abstract/Description
As Africa continues to advance the development of its sustainable and knowledge-driven bioeconomy, there is a growing need for scientists who can transform innovative research into viable business ventures and impactful solutions. To contribute to bridging this gap, BioInnovate Africa convened an inaugural Biobased Innovation and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp (BIEB) from 28 July to 7 August 2025, under the theme “Making Ideas Investable.” The bootcamp brought together 20 early-career scientists, mainly master’s and Ph.D. graduates, from 10 African countries within the BioInnovate Africa and Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (Rsif) networks. This Info Note summarises the structure, activities, and outcomes of the bootcamp. It also provides recommendations to strengthen future bootcamps, enhance peer learning and mentorship among emerging innovators, and promote partnerships that can accelerate biobased innovation and industrial development in Africa.
