BioInnovate Africa participated in Kenya’s inaugural Science, Technology, Research and Innovation for Society (STRI4Society) Week, held from 18–22 May 2026 under the theme, “Igniting Innovation: Bridging Science and Society for Sustainable Development”. The event was organised by the State Department for Science, Research and Innovation (SDSRI) in collaboration with its partners.

The week-long event brought together government leaders, researchers, academics, industry players, innovators, students, development partners, the media, and members of the wider community. It provided a national platform for showcasing and promoting science, technology, research, and innovation as key drivers of Kenya’s sustainable development, socio-economic transformation, and global competitiveness.

BioInnovate Africa exhibition booth showcased how it supports the growing bioeconomy ecosystem in Kenya and eastern Africa by helping translate biobased discoveries and innovations into sustainable business ventures for societal transformation. Among those who visited the booth included Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak, Principal Secretary for the State Department for Science, Research and Innovation, Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Kenya.
