- Introduction:
The Global Bioeconomy Summit is recognised as a leading international forum for dialogue and cooperation on the bioeconomy, bringing together political leaders, policymakers, researchers, industry, investors and civil society to advance sustainable bio-based innovation and solutions. The Global Bioeconomy Summit 2026 is being organised by the Government of Ireland and the International Advisory Council on the Global Bioeconomy.
The Summit will explore how the bioeconomy can contribute to socio-economic transformation and climate action by advancing sustainable, circular and bio-based solutions. It will provide a platform for high-level dialogue, knowledge-sharing and partnership-building across policy, science, industry, finance and civil society. GBS2026 will focus on how bio-based solutions can help address major global challenges, including food and energy security, health, biodiversity loss and climate resilience, while supporting inclusive, equitable and socially accepted pathways for deployment.
Venue: The Global Bioeconomy Summit 2026 will take place in Dublin, Ireland on 20-21 October 2026 at The Convention Centre Dublin (CCD).
Dates: The main Summit will be preceded by a pre-meeting day on the 19th of October 2026, and delegates will be given the opportunity to participate in Site Visits across the island of Ireland on the 22nd of October 2026.

- Programme overview
Across two days of plenary discussions, workshops, exhibitions and networking sessions, the GBS2026 programme will highlight how bio-based innovation can move from discovery to real-world impact. The programme will consider innovation, scalable solutions, enabling policy, markets, metrics, investment and partnerships needed to deliver sustainable impact.
The current programme areas include plenary sessions, workshops, site visits and satellite activities. Plenary themes announced to date include:
- Bioeconomy and multi-dimensional innovation – from discovery to scale
- Bioeconomy solutions in a world of global crises creating impact for sustainable development
- Supercharging the Bioeconomy: Policy, markets and metrics to scale biobased solutions
- New European and Irish bioeconomy strategies, launch of the Bio-based Europe Alliance and mirror views from global partners
- Bioeconomy Vision 2040 – forward-looking narratives.

- Registration information
Pre-registration for GBS2026 is now open. Pre-registrations are being managed and approved by the organisers. Once approved, delegates will receive further instructions to complete registration and submit payment.
Standard registration is available until 31 August 2026. Late registration applies from 1 September 2026.
Registration includes attendance at Summit sessions, access to the exhibition, catering during session breaks and lunch, the gala dinner on 20 October 2026, complimentary Wi-Fi and transport for official site visits of bioeconomy interest in Ireland.
Payment is required only after pre-registration has been approved.

- Ireland and the bioeconomy
As host country, Ireland will use GBS2026 as an opportunity to showcase its developing bioeconomy to a global audience. Ireland’s approach is focused on harnessing natural resources and competitive advantage in a coordinated way, while ensuring that opportunities are developed sustainably and unintended consequences are avoided.
The bioeconomy is viewed as an important tool for supporting agri-food systems transformation and diversification, rural and regional employment and new business opportunities and generational renewal, increasing food and energy security, supporting climate action, promoting circular economy approaches, reducing waste and strengthening research, development and innovation capability.
