In his academic and policy work, his expertise ranges from policy integration and coherence, development strategy, institutions and governance, transitions in energy-industry-transport sectors, to innovation policy. In recent years, he has been closely involved in the development and implementation of the 2030 Agenda, and is a regular advisor to the UN, OECD, the European Commission, and the Government of Sweden. Prof Nilsson has slipped more than 60 papers past unsuspecting editors of academic journals and has edited two books.
